11.  SCAN

DCRC is halfway through a third year of collaboration with SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) in Fort Wayne, IN, on the Joan Sherman Program for Resilient Children. This project focuses on the development and evaluation of a program to build the resilience of children in the child welfare system. By focusing on coaching parents and engaging families during supervised visits, the program aims to develop parenting skills in adults and protective factors in children to move families towards successful futures.  Additional partner organizations are involved in piloting and evaluating the program including: Ireland Home-Based Services; Devereux Florida; Devereux Arizona; and Children & Families First of Delaware.  Data on the benefits of this program to families and children look promising.
