Our Mission

Our mission is to promote social and emotional development, foster resilience and build skills for school and life success in children birth through school-age, as well as to promote the resilience of the adults who care for them.

We accomplish this by doing research and producing resources for infants & toddlers, preschoolers, and adults. Our partnership with Aperture Education also bring social-emotional learning and resilience to school-age children.

We are also excited to share our resources for promoting resilience in vulnerable children & families at YourJourneyTogether.org as well as for dealing with challenging behavior in children at MoreFLIPIT.org.

Why Resilience?

Adult Resilience & Head Start Alignment Now on e-DECA

Two new enhancements are now available to e-DECA users. Teachers can now assess their own resilience with the Devereux Adult Resilience Survey (DARS), and Head Start programs can see how e-DECA Strategies align with the new Head Start Outcomes Framework. e-DECA is a powerful tool to assist in building resilience in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Learn more here.

Want School-Age SEL?

Aperture Education uses the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA) as part of its comprehensive SEL solution for school-age children. Aperture and DCRC are close partners in the important work of building resilience and social-emotional skills in children in Kindergarten through High School. Learn more about Aperture Education at their website.

Study Indicates FLIP IT is an Effective Parenting Tool

The Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs at Miami University recently published an evaluation of the OH Department of Mental and Addiction Services’ state-wide pilot of the FLIP IT strategy. The researchers also reported that parents were “overwhelmingly satisfied” and “100% of the comments described positive outcomes.”  Read the Executive Summary or Full Report.
